Lip Balm Picks

I don’t know about  you, but my lips are almost constantly chapped (probably because I don’t drink enough water) so lip balm is a must for me. However, I’m also sensitive to a lot of lip products out there so I have to be careful. Here, I’ve put together a list of affordable products that I have found give me that moisture I need, without irritating my skin.

SALT By Hendrix

Lip Butter – Rose ($12.95)

I was introduced to this one by makeup artist, Samantha Powell, during a photoshoot. I had a cold at the time so she made sure my lips were nicely hydrated once we finished shooting. For the rest of the day, I couldn’t help but notice that my lips were so soft and smooth so I asked her where she got it from and now here I am, telling you how amazing it is!

This lip butter doubles as a lip scrub with little micro beads to get rid of dead skin. It’s not harsh at all and it all kind of dissolves to leave this soft, silky feeling. I have the rose version which also gives my lips a nice tint, great for  daily wear. You can also get it in nude and blush. To top it all off, it’s vegan!

Moisture Plus Lip Balm in Peach $8.99

The Moisture Plus lip balm ticks all the boxes: SPF15, easy applicator, tint and moisture. I use this one every morning before I go out and I love how it gives my lips a pop of colour without having to go all out and use lipstick. This is another lip balm that I don’t feel I have to reapply too often. It’s also not greasy which is a major plus for me. Sometimes, I feel like lip balms are so oily that they’re going to give me pimples on my chin. Thankfully, this one doesn’t fall into that category at all.

Burt’s Bees

Hydrating Lip Balm with Coconut and Pear ($6.95)

First of all, yum. This one from Burt’s Bees smells amazing due to it’s coconut and pear combination. Second of all, it’s all natural *double thumbs up*. I love this one because it is so easy to apply, it’s cheap and it does it’s job so well. It deeply moisturises your lips and I don’t feel the need to reapply it that often meaning my lips are feeling hydrated for longer. It also comes in a variety of different flavours, so take your pick.

Paula’s Choice

Lip & Body Treatment Balm $19.00

The big problem I find with using paw paw treatment on your lips is that it leaves this super shine that sort of looks like you’ve gone overboard with vaseline. The Paula’s Choice Lip & Body Treatment Balm doesn’t do that at all. I use this every night before I go to bed because my lips completely dry out if my sleep with my mouth open. It completely keeps your lips hydrated all night and you wake up ready for the next day. The great thing about this one is that you can also use it on other areas of your body like your cuticles, heels and elbows.
