With my first MBFWA just around the corner, I am hastily trying to put together outfits to suit the occasion. I’ve been flicking through street style photos from last year’s fashion week trying to draw some sort of inspiration and I think this has been somewhat successful. A few years ago, when my shopping habits were far worse than what they are now (how can that be? I’m sure you’re thinking), I used to buy these amazing, utterly unique pieces that I could never actually wear on a regular day. I did try sometimes, but it was always met with strange stares and the occasional man coming up to me and touching my clothes and then walking away, laughing.
Not only was this traumatising, the clothing just wasn’t appreciated. However, MBFWA is a different story. Here, I will be surrounded by likeminded, fashion-forward people who really understand style and the craftsmanship behind the art that is fashion.
So deep I dig into the depths of my wardrobe to unearth the scarcely worn pieces of art and bring them out of their hibernation. Wish me luck!
