Inspiration and motivation go hand-in-hand. Without it, anyone can notice it lacking through your images. That's what I have learnt over the last few months - when I'm not feeling it, you can see it and it sucks.
Before I started the job I am currently in, being an analyst, I had more space in my mind to think about my blog - I guess in other words, the previous role didn't challenge my brain all that much. However, now, I am using so much energy at work that I don't have much left for my second job, this one. Don't get me wrong, I still love doing this, but it is getting harder and harder to get motivated when I'm already exhausted.
In saying this though, there are moments of unexpected inspiration that give me this boost to keep powering on. For example, this outfit. I'm going to be absolutely honest, when Kate from wearnshine sent this over to me, I wasn't all that keen to wear it. It looks very different to what I would usually wear.
On shoot day, it was the last outfit to photograph. It was the usual routine - get changed in the back of my car, hop out, pose, check what we've captured, and then pose again. To my absolute delight, this dress looked amazing in photos! Not only that, I realised that a lot of my outfits lately have involved a bit of the same every time.
It's a lot of denim and graphic tees. This dress brought me back to when I wasn't so afraid to break the rules and wear whatever I liked - not caring about anyone else's opinion. Sure, some people may think this looks strange and ill-fitting, but I like it and that's all that really matters in the end. Because when you wear something with confidence, that confidence shines through and is evident to those around you.
These kinds of moments motivate me to keep on pushing on, to be innovative and creative.
