It almost that time of the year where we leave 2017 behind us and look at the year ahead. We make new year resolutions that will most likely lay forgotten within a couple of months (weeks?) and try to start fresh. For me, 2017 was a pretty crazy one both professionally and personally. It, most definitely, was a challenging year for which I was grateful for. It taught me many lessons that I will be taking with me forever. And now, as a thank you, it's time to party.

I've put together a few outfits for different types of parties that you might find yourself attending - from black tie to casual, let's go through the possibilities.

Shilla the Label

The casual get together

Who doesn't like to party in comfort? Say you're headed to a mate's place to drink and chill and there's no dress code but you want to make it a bit special since, you know, it's NYE and all - bring on the romper. Get as sloppy as you want - ain't so skirts flying up tonight. I love this little number from Shilla the Label with its starry print and cute shoulder cutouts.

What makes this romper even better is that it has an elasticised waist so eat and drink as much as you want! You can style this baby up with

sneakers or heels, depending on your mood and maybe add a belt around the waist if you want to add something extra.

Self Portrait

Night out in the city

So you've committed to battling the masses in the city! But fear not, you've got a ticket to that place that's super exclusive which means it's sequin time. This Self Portrait dress is an absolute stunner. It has sculpted lattice trim and ruffles which takes the dress that one step further. The length and fit is just perfect and due to it's black and navy colour combination, it is super easy to match shoes.

Loyd/Ford

Cocktail Party

This Loyd/Ford dress is undoubtedly eye catching. From afar, it seems like quite a minimal design but upon closer inspection, there are so many layers of intricate details that make it stand out from all the rest. The first thing that caught my eye was the dusty pink sequin top. Sequins can easily look tacky, especially when in pink, but here, it is not. It adds a sort of understated glamour to the look. And the skirt, daaaaamn! There are layers of black and white filmy tulle and underneath all of that is this gorgeous nude bodycon skirt with black lace detailing that really starts to show when you're walking. Words cannot describe how much I love this. You can also buy the top and skirt separately if you want to mix and match.

This piece is exclusive to Shopbop  - see it here.

Fame and Partners

Black Tie

And then there's the black tie event (or you could just feel very Carrie Bradshaw-like and want to chuck on a gown, just 'cause). Fame and Partners have an awesome system where you can alter the design is various different ways to suit you. Even better, they ask you for your height so you don't have to worry about alterations!

I chose The Nova mostly due to the beautiful gold embroidery on the structured ruffle overlay. The dress overall is magnificent and would wow any crowd.
